Your words stay with you.
Desk reads a paragraph when you ask it to and keeps nothing of it. What we keep, we list here, with who can see it.
Who we are
Habitat Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) / 509(a)(2) public charity. EIN 42-2210447. hello@habitat.ooo. Incorporated in Massachusetts.
What stays in your browser
Your drafts, readings, notes, saves and gems; your browser’s signing key, whose private half can’t be read out, even by the page; small settings. Clearing your browser’s data removes them.
What you choose to save
Saves go where you choose: a file on your computer, or a folder in your own Google Drive. Your browser writes to Google directly. We never see those files.
Google Drive
If you choose Drive, Google asks you to let Desk see the files Desk makes, and nothing else in your Drive. The permission lasts an hour, in that browser tab. We don’t keep it, and our server never receives it.
Habitat Desk’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What our server reads and does not keep
A paragraph’s text, when you read it. Your search words, when you search a text.
What our server keeps
In a room: remarks, the name and key ID of whoever posted them, and a fingerprint of the words a remark was made on, never the words. The paragraphs a writer shares by inviting, seen only by the members they invite, until the writer ends the share. Gems given to a room, with no words. Membership grants. The full list, with who can see each item, is on the docs page What is kept, and where.
The beta
When you join the waiting list: your name and email, and the date. When you are let in: the pass we give you. All of it is kept in the site’s own store with our web host. We count how many texts each pass gives Desk in an hour, to keep the beta fair. We use your name and email to let you in and to write to you about the beta. Your sign-in link reaches you by email through Resend, the service that carries our mail.
Joining uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from scripts. Cloudflare sees that check, under its own privacy policy.
Write to hello@habitat.ooo and we remove your name and email. Your pass then ends.
Forms
Contact us, membership requests and kit requests reach the Foundation with what you typed. We answer by hand.
Page views
We count page views ourselves, on our web host: country, region and city as the host estimates them, and the page. No cookies for this, no third-party tracker, and never your IP address.
Cookies
When you log in to Desk, or come in by a beta link, one cookie keeps you logged in. A beta pass has one more, which tells the page it is a beta pass. Nothing else.
What we never do
Sell or share anything about you. Advertise. Train a model on your words. Read your words for meaning.
Kept for good
A remark posted in a room stays in that room; there is no delete. That is deliberate, and Desk shows you the words a remark is on before you post.
Changes
If this page changes, the date below changes, and what was kept before stays under the terms it was kept under.
